Ukończyła  w 2021 roku z tytułem licencjata (z wyróżnieniem) studia w dziedzinie filmu (1. miejsce) w LASALLE College of the Arts Puttnam School of Film & Animation. Jej film dyplomowy 依依 (yī yī), znany również jako Time Flows in Strange Ways on Sundays, miał swoją premierę w Pardi di domani 74. Festiwalu Filmowego w Locarno: Sekcja konkursu międzynarodowego. Jej nadchodzący film krótkometrażowy, Children’s Day, został wybrany do udziału w Objectifs Short Film Incubator 2022. Równocześnie jej debiutancki projekt fabularny, Midnight Blue Spring, został wybrany do Laboratorium Filmowego Azji Południowo-Wschodniej 32. Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Filmowego w Singapurze i wygrał inauguracyjną Locarno Residency.

Giselle stara się opowiadać historie o kobietach, dla kobiet: historie, które przedstawiają kobiece pasje, rozczarowania i rutynę. Inspiruje ją jakość emocjonalna obecna we wszystkich rzeczach, żyjących lub nie, i bardzo ceni proces analogowy (odczuwanie, tworzenie, nadzieja, oczekiwanie). Próbuje uchwycić codzienne życie za pomocą swoich aparatów na kliszę i od tego czasu rozszerzyła swoją działalność od fotografii do kręcenia domowych filmów na kamerze Super 8.

Poza filmem jej inne hobby to szydełkowanie i płacz (lub robienie obu rzeczy jednocześnie). Giselle ma nadzieję, że zawsze będzie robić filmy pełne ludzkiej prawdy, wrażliwości i smaku — filmy, które ludzie czują, zanim zrozumieją.

Giselle Lin is a writer-director from Singapore.

She graduated with a BA (Hons) in Film (1st) from the LASALLE College of the Arts Puttnam School of Film & Animation in 2021. Her thesis film 依依 (yī yī), aka Time Flows in Strange Ways on Sundays, premiered at the 74th Locarno Film Festival’s Pardi di domani: International Competition section. Her upcoming short film, Children’s Day, was chosen to participate in the Objectifs Short Film Incubator 2022. Concurrently, her debut feature project, Midnight Blue Spring, was selected for the 32nd Singapore International Film Festival’s Southeast Asian Film Lab and won the inaugural Locarno Residency.

Giselle strives to tell stories about women, for women: stories that depict women’s passions, disappointments, and routines. She is inspired by the emotional quality present in all things, living or not, and greatly appreciates the analogue process (feeling, making, hoping, waiting). She tries to capture everyday life with her film cameras and has since expanded from still photography to shooting home movies on Super 8.

Beyond film, her other hobbies include crocheting and crying (or doing both at the same time). Giselle hopes to forever make films filled with human truth, touch, and taste — films that people feel before understanding.
